Student Council
Student Council members learn teamwork, leadership qualities, and develop an appreciation for their school, peers, and community. Student Council meets about 6 times a year and facilitates 3 main service projects for NES: the Salvation Army Can Food Drive, the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Campaign, and the Go Green Initiative.
Each class in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades elect 2 students to represent them on Student Council. Once elected, students have the option to stay on the Student Council for their remaining years at NES.
The NES Student Council includes the following student offices: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian. At the first Student Council meeting, nominations are taken for the 4 offices. Nominees campaign by making posters and reading their speech during morning announcements. All students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades vote and elect the new officers.
Student Council is sponsored by Ms. Amy Brown and Ms. Latonya Maynard.
