Bio

Mrs. Nelms was born and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, and she is a product of the Houston County School System. She received her Bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University in Early Childhood/Special Education. She also attended Valdosta State University to complete her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education with ESOL Endorsement. While working on her Master's, she worked at the Sullivan Literacy Center and helped tutor students with reading/writing difficulties. Later, she obtained her Specialist degree from Georgia Southwestern State University in Early Childhood Education, and she also obtained her Gifted Endorsement. She also has the Reading Endorsement, Teacher Support & Coaching Endorsement, and is working on the Dyslexia Endorsement. Mrs. Nelms has been teaching at Northside Elementary since 2016, and she loves all of the students at NES dearly. She strives to make her learning environment inviting, fun-filled, and challenging, but while also maintaining a balance of respect, love, and trust. Mrs. Nelms loves being the Co-Gifted Lead Teacher for the school, and helping lead NES teachers on a journey to creating students that are problem-solvers and critical thinkers. Mrs. Nelms met her husband, Tyler, in college, and they have been happily married since 2015. They have one child, Keegan, and one dog, Daysie.
